On the eve of Guru Purnima, 2nd July 2023, five members of Team SSM Bengaluru offered dry ration kits and annadaanam seva to 125 pourakarmikas and 25 less privileged people in South Bengaluru. Comprising 5 kgs of rice, 2 kgs of wheat flour, I litre of refined oil, 1 kg of semolina, 1 kg of lentils, and 1 kg of sugar, this dry ration kit can sustain a family of four members for two weeks. Members of Team SSM Hyderabad offered the monthly dry rations at the Mathru Abhaya Foundation on 25th June 2023. Cooking essentials such as oil, groundnuts, condiments, and toiletries were given to the founder at the girls' home.  A few volunteers offered fruits to the children and youngsters who had gathered together for their Sunday meal. Light-hearted banter and interesting exchanges about academic achievements and hobbies concluded the visit on a cheerful note. On 28th March 2023, members of Team SSM Hyderabad set off to meet the children sheltered at the Mathru Abhaya Foundation for a special painting workshop during the distribution of the monthly kit of dry rations. The team members first offered dry rations such as cooking oil, sugar, spices, groundnuts, and toiletries. After the children had taken their lunch, about 25 children from ages 4 to 14 participated in a spontaneous painting workshop facilitated by a team member. The children were simply delighted to use their brilliant watercolors and splashed them onto paper to create beautiful landscapes amidst excited chatter and joyous laughter. Team SSM Hyderabad celebrated Founder's Day (6th November) with the provision of the monthly dry rations and toiletries for the young residents of the Mathru Abhaya Foundation in Medipally, North Hyderabad on 27th November 2022. The youngsters at the home for girls were thrilled to meet the team members on a relaxed Sunday morning. They chatted with them about their upcoming semester-end exams and spoke proudly of some of the other children who were participating in a Bhagvad Gita recitation competition.  They eagerly sorted out the grocery items that comprised oil, lentils, semolina, salt, sugar, spices; and the toiletries consisting of soaps, shampoos, and hair oil. Team SSM Chennai has been associated with the Love Care Centre in Pallikaranai, Chennai which provides food, accommodation, and health care to differently abled children and adults. During the Seva Utsav held in commemoration of Sri M's birthday (6th November), the team members had offered an annadaanam seva to the residents of this safe home. In continuance of this commemoration, the team offered dry rations at the centre on 22nd November 2022.   A month's supply of dry rations such as rice, lentils, semolina, cooking oil, sugar, and condiments ensured that the basic nutritional requirements of the residents were supported. Team SSM Mumbai ushered in Sri M's birthday, 6th November 2022, with spirited senior citizens at two different old age homes.       At the Ranga Anand Old Age Home, Thane the team members offered blankets and sweaters to the elders to protect them from the chilly winter. Toiletries and a few grocery items were also handed over to the management team.       Another group of team members visited the Radhika Old Age Home , Bhayander West. The celebration began with the Guru Stuti, followed by a short video of Sri M's satsang, and reading of passages from Sri M's books in Hindi and Marathi. A few of his books were also gifted to the library. A session of simple yoga asanas using balloons as props followed.     Delicious cakes were served as the birthday song played on. On 6th November 2022, Team SSM Mumbai offered dry rations at The Angel's Nest Orphanage, located at Vijay Nagar, Marol to celebrate Sri M's birthday. This 14-year-old home provides food, shelter, clothes, and education to 30 girls, many of whom are pursuing professional studies.   The dry rations comprised wheat flour, sugar, semolina, chickpeas, lentils, and cooking oil.   The matron's eyes welled up with tears as she thanked the team members for this providential help.  Sweets were also distributed to the young girls.   The team members concluded the celebration with an interactive session with the residents that revealed some of their daunting challenges related to health, academic support, and self esteem.  They reassured these wonderful youngsters of their support and promised to return soon with sustainable solutions to their challenges.   To support the initiatives of Team SSM Mumbai, please write to us at connect@satsang-foundation.org . ...

On 6th November 2022, Team SSM Kerala commemorated Sir's birthday with annadaanam seva and celebrations at  Mathruchaya Balabhavan located in Chowara, Kochi. Mathruchaya Balabhavan is an orphanage for boys and senior citizens. The 20 young boys between the ages of 10 and 20 years sheltered here hail from less privileged families. They are provided with food, clothing, shelter, and education while the 18 elders at the home receive care and medical aid. The children sat together, meditated, and chanted the Gayatri Mantra. This was followed by a traditional Kerala Sadhya for everyone, and the cutting and sharing of a birthday cake, and an aarati in reverence to Sri M.  The team members also distributed 50 kgs of rice, 20 liters of oil, and some cakes and biscuits for the children. On this auspicious day of Sri M's birthday, Team SSM Kolkata reached out to the specially-abled children at Behala, Sakher Bazar, Kolkata. They visited Voice of the World , an NGO, to distribute dry rations and plant saplings on the premises. Dry rations included 20 kgs minikit rice, 20 kgs wheat flour, and 20 litres of edible soybean oil. The plantation activity which included planting of various flower saplings was greeted with euphoric enthusiasm by the differently abled children who could not hold back their joyous emotions when the team members held their hands to plant the saplings. The children's gleeful faces and ecstatic gestures coupled with gentle, encouraging pats on their back truly made it all worthwhile!

The Eera Nenjam Old Age Home at R S Puram, Coimbatore shelters 80 senior citizens and provides them with food, accommodation, and medical care. Team SSM Coimbatore has been associated with this safe haven through the pandemic and continues to provide support through the provision of dry rations, cooked meals, and medicines.     On 7th October 2022, the team members visited the home and handed over the monthly dry rations which comprised 10 kgs each of lentils, Bengal gram, green gram, poha or beaten rice, jaggery; and 10 litres of cooking oil.     To support the initiatives of Team SSM Coimbatore, please write to us at connect@satsang-foundation.org .  

Over the past 10 months, Team SSM Chandigarh has been supporting The Chandigarh Spinal Rehab Centre with the provision of dry rations for the benefit of patients and their caregivers.   This rehab centre provides healing and rehabilitation to patients who have suffered spinal cord injuries. Given the sustained need for treatment and its long duration, caregivers of patients require additional resources to ensure adequate nutritional support to their loved ones.     The team members handed over 60 litres of cooking oil, 50 kgs of sugar, 40 kgs of different lentils such as green gram and chickpeas, and 5 kgs of tea to the management team at the centre on 17th August 2022.    The generous and unflinching support of donors and other contributors has sustained this selfless seva and provided much succor to several families.   To support Team SSM Chandigarh in this endeavor, write to us at connect@satsang-foundation.org .

The Mathru Abhaya Foundation houses 55 young boys and girls in separate homes and provides them food, shelter, medical care, and education. Constant support and assistance are therefore required throughout the year. As part of its monthly commitment to this orphanage, Team SSM Hyderabad supplied some of its larger grocery needs for the month of August. The team members handed over 150 kgs of rice, 15 litres of cooking oil, and 2 kgs of pepper on Saturday, 30th July 2022 to  Mr. Ramesh, the founder of the orphanage and a few young residents at the home for girls. Their faces lit up with huge smiles when Mr. Ramesh graciously accepted a couple of large packets of potato chips, a little token gift from one of the team members, along with the grocery items. On 12th July 2022, Team SSM Bengaluru commemorated the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima with the distribution of dry ration kits to 100 pourakarmikas or municipal workers at Bellandur, Sarjapur Road.      Each kit comprised 5 kgs of rice, 2 kgs of wheat flour, 1 litre of cooking oil, 1 kg each of semolina, lentils, sugar, and salt, and a bar of bathing soap.     The team members expressed their gratitude to these oft-neglected municipal workers who toil relentlessly to keep our cities clean.     To support such special initiatives and experience the joy of giving and sharing, please contact us at connect@satsang-foundation.org or visit our website www.stasangsevamission.org  

Following an initial visit to the border village of Tokipur during April 2022, Team SSM Kolkata has initiated several sevas in May 2022 to support a few inhabitants of this impoverished hamlet. Ramen Ghosh, aged 78 years, had been suffering from cataract and had nearly lost his eyesight for want of medical help. The team members were able to facilitate his travel expenses and support his treatment over the course of multiple consultations at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Kolkata.  Since April 2022, Debabrata Das and Saubhagya Das, two bright youngsters from Tokipur had received aid for their books and tuition fees. One of the team members had also offered them online English support classes. The intention was to eventually bring them to Kolkata after their 12th Grade exams and help them to become financially independent. Udhavum Ullangal Helping Hearts, an NGO, was established in 2001 to support abandoned children and women who are rescued from the streets, parks, and railway and bus stations.    The managers of this NGO had requested Team SSM Chennai to provide dry rations and essential items to the 45 girls aged between 6 and 16 years and the 15 elderly women who are presently living at the home in Maralmarai Nagar, Chennai.     The team members visited the home on the 28th of March, 2022 and distributed dry rations such as rice, sugar, lentils, peanuts, semolina, salt, dried red chillies, dry fruits, coffee, and tea.      The children were delighted to receive a tiny goody bag filled with biscuits, a T-shirt, and a wire tray to store their personal belongings.
