Seva Utsav 2024: Bengaluru grows greener by 750 saplings

Commemorating Sri M's 75th birthday, MyTree volunteers at Bengaluru held a successful tree plantation drive on 9 November 2024. Together, they transformed the DCP CAR campus at Cottonpet, into a budding sanctuary of 750 saplings. In the early light of a Saturday morning, they moved quietly, guided by a purpose that was bigger than themselves—an honoring, a tribute to Sri M and his dream of a world both cleaner and greener, where life would spring forth from the soil itself.  Each volunteer, from the eldest with hands worn and wise, to the youngest—a bright-eyed girl of just ten—took to the earth with saplings cradled in their hands, planting them as one plants hope. They pressed each root down with gentle conviction, breathing life into the ground. Seva Utsav 2024: Sri M’s birthday celebrations – an ode to the less privileged at shelter homes in Bengaluru

The 6 th of November marks the birthday of spiritual Master, Sri M and as always it ushered in a day of caring and compassion. The Satsang Seva Mission (SSM) volunteers in Bengaluru offered snack boxes to the  40 youngsters and the 20 senior citizens at Vallabh Niketan Ashram and the  40 less privileged children at Namma Mane.  Sourced from The Spastic Society of Karnataka, each snack box comprised a vegetarian puff, tetrapacks of mango juice, and a pastry. The faces of the little ones gleamed with joy as they received their individual box while gratitude was writ largely on the faces of the senior members. A spirit of cheer pervaded the ambience with the volunteers sharing the joy of the recipients. Volunteers of the Satsang Seva Mission (SSM) at Bengaluru commemorated the birthday of Sri M with the distribution of 97 dry ration kits to pourakarmikas - sanitation workers - at Sarjapur and 43 kits to less privileged families living in Banaswadi. Symbolic of love and compassion, each dry ration kit reminds us that selfless service is an integral part of a spiritual aspirant's path. It was a heartwarming experience for the volunteers as the smiling faces of the recipients expressed gratitude and joy. 104 weeks of sustained annadaanam seva offered to marginalized communities at Lakshmipura, Bengaluru

Launched on Founder's Day, 6 November 2022, the weekly annadaanam seva offered to the community of daily wagers, pavement dwellers, and less privileged at Lakshmipura in Gavipuram, South Bengaluru is set to complete 104 weeks. Every Sunday afternoon, a freshly-prepared, nourishing lunch of rice, lentils, vegetable curries, a sweet, and curd is served to them on the premises of Adamya Chetana, an NGO that supports the nutritional needs of the less privileged.  Prayers of gratitude precede the meal uniting volunteers and recipients in the spirit of selfless service. 71,500 meal equivalents offered since 7 years at Vallabh Niketan Ashram, Bengaluru

Associated with the Vallabh Niketan Ashram since 2017, volunteers of the Satsang Seva Mission (SSM) at Bengaluru have supported the basic nutritional requirements of the inmates with more than 71, 500 meal equivalents through a monthly supply of staples such as rice, wheat, cooking oil, lentils, and semolina. Daily milk supply to the 45 young boys and 20 senior citizens residing at this shelter home has also contributed significantly to their health and well-being. The volunteers have also continued to offer a special Sunday breakfast, fostering a sense of community in the residents as they take the time to unwind and spend moments of camaraderie with each other after a busy weekly schedule. Academic support before crucial year-end exams and weekly sessions in Spoken English and yoga abhyasa for the youngsters complete the holistic paradigm, helping them blossom into confident, empowered citizens. Namma Mane’s young yoga aspirants recommence abhyasa after summer vacation

Regular yoga abhyasa sessions recommenced for 35 sprightly young yoginis at Namme Mane with the celebration of International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2024. Retracing their steps of a set routine, the youngsters began with a prayer and warmed up with Sukshma vyayama . Testing their core strength with plank holds, they moved on with fluid ease into the Surya Namaskar , correcting their alignment with careful attention. Sitting asanas such as Malasana, Dandasana , and Ushtrasana paved the way for the challenging, supine series of Setubandhasana, Sarvangasana, Halasana , and Matsyasana . An extended Shavasana allowed the girls to slip effortlessly into pranayama , breathwork, meditation, and chanting with Sri M's Guru Mantra Chant.  A tranquil start to renewed vows of regular yoga abhyasa and infectious joy marked this special session. Weekly annadaanam seva unites recipients and volunteers in spirit of selfless service

Sunday 28 April 2024 witnessed yet another occasion to celebrate the joy of giving and sharing through the weekly annadaanam seva under the aegis of the Satsang Seva Mission (SSM) at Bengaluru. The 30 senior citizens and youngsters at Vallabh Niketan Ashram partook of a special breakfast in the tranquil premises of the Ashram. Seven years of nutritional support, academic sessions, Spoken English classes, and yoga sessions have cemented the bond of camaraderie amongst the residents and the volunteers. The SSM volunteers also served a nourishing lunch to 60 daily wagers and pavement dwellers at  Lakshmipura, Gavipuram at the premises of Adamya Chetana, an NGO that supports the nutritional requirements of the less privileged. On February 17th 2024, twelve students at Vallabh Niketan Ashram embarked on a unique journey.Guided by volunteers from SSM Bengaluru, students brainstormed career aspirations and chose "businessman" as a starting point.Key business functions were explored: starting the company, hiring employees, manufacturing, marketing, and sales. Through this immersive experience, learners honed their English speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills amidst crucial business decisions. From market research to sales pitches, they grappled with ethical dilemmas, negotiated pricing, and strategized for success – all the while strengthening their grasp of the language. Patriotic fervor marks Republic Day celebration at Vallabh Niketan Ashram, Bengaluru

The 24 young boys sheltered at Vallabh Niketan Ashram, Bengaluru celebrated India's 75th Republic Day with great gusto during their Spoken English classes held on 27th January 2024. The junior group of boys colored pictures depicting the flag hoisting ceremony and the Indian Armed Forces with vibrant strokes while the senior group participated in inspirational discussions based on the contribution of great leaders towards the foundation of the Indian republic. Colorful commemoration of 75th Republic Day at Namma Mane, Bengaluru

On the eve of India's 75th Republic Day the volunteers of Team SSM Bengaluru engaged the 40 young girls sheltered at Namma Mane in an art session.  Drawing sheets, crayons, and sketch pens brought the creative abilities of the children to life as they commemorated the occasion with much reverence. The special art session ended with chocolate cookies for the young artists. Team SSM Bengaluru continued to support the less privileged by offering weekly annadaanam seva .   On Sunday, 13th August 2023, a special breakfast of shavige bath, vadas, chutney, and sweet holige, was offered to the senior citizens and youngsters of Vallabh Niketan Ashram.   In the afternoon, a filling lunch of uppittu , pulao , plain rice , sambar , and curds was offered to 120 people from the community of daily wagers and pavement dwellers of Lakshmipura, Gavipuram.   As the volunteers served the meals with much love and compassion, the recipients expressed their gratitude by offering prayers and motivating the volunteers to continue their seva sadhana .   To participate in the Satsang Seva Mission and experience the joy of giving, please write to us at connect@satsang-foundation.org .
