In celebration of Sri M's 75th birthday on 6 November 2024, the Satsang Seva Mission volunteers in Tamil Nadu rolled up their sleeves and got to work. From feeding the hungry to caring for the elderly, their selfless acts touched countless lives.  Trichy A special annadaanam seva was conducted by a dedicated volunteer from The Satsang Foundation, a member of the royal family of Pudukottai, serving 60 individuals near the Collector's office, offering a warm meal to those in need. Chennai Located in Pallikaranai, the Love Care Centre, part of the Parthasarathy Memorial Trust, shelters 70 differently-abled children. On the occasion of Founder's Day, 34 children were served a hearty lunch. Sri M's 75th birthday was celebrated with a special annadaanam seva for the elderly sheltered at two old age homes at Coimbatore. Associated with Eera Nenjam Old Age Home, RS Puram since the past four years, the Satsang Seva Mission team has provided cooked meals and medicines to support the residents. On 6 November, 85 seniors were offered a hearty breakfast.  A festive breakfast was also offered to 35 aged women staying at Helping Hearts Old Age Home for Women, Poosaripalayam. When Cyclone Michaung made its landfall in Chennai on 4th December 2023, torrential rains of more than 500 mm pounded the city over three days, throwing daily life out of gear. Unable to cope with these heavy rains, the Adayar and Cooum Rivers were in spate and most areas of the city were waterlogged. Roads were unmotorable and electricity was shut, leading to severe shortage of food and essential items.  On 8th December, Team SSM Chennai of The Satsang Foundation (TSF) joined hands with ExNoRa International and local agencies to set up a kitchen in a dharmashala and served cooked meals to 1200 residents of less privileged neighborhoods in Perumbakkam, one of the worst-affected localities.  Join our Satsang Seva Mission teams to help with relief work and support the rehabilitation of the affected. Team SSM Coimbatore has been associated with the Government School for the Visually Challenged in Poochiyur, Coimbatore since the past one year, supporting the children with frequent annadaanam seva and helping with the upkeep of the outdoor premises.  Recently, on the request of the school principal, a renovation of the classrooms was undertaken with complete sponsorship from Sterna Security, Coimbatore. Cracked ceiling plasters, water seepage, termite infestation, and bad floors were repaired through the month of April 2023. The newly water-proofed roof; application of termite protection; and tiled floors have thus ensured that the  children have a conducive and safe learning space. The Love Care Centre, a unit of the Parthasarathy Memorial Trust, in Pallikaranai, Chennai, houses 35 residents and 35 day scholars. Since the past three years Team SSM Chennai has been providing dry rations for the specially-abled children and adults at this centre established by Gomathi Jagadeesan, herself a specially-abled person. Recently, the team members received a request from the management to help repair and paint the centre. They helped purchase the raw materials required for the renovation which was duly completed. Team SSM Chennai has been associated with the Love Care Centre in Pallikaranai, Chennai which provides food, accommodation, and health care to differently abled children and adults. During the Seva Utsav held in commemoration of Sri M's birthday (6th November), the team members had offered an annadaanam seva to the residents of this safe home. In continuance of this commemoration, the team offered dry rations at the centre on 22nd November 2022.   A month's supply of dry rations such as rice, lentils, semolina, cooking oil, sugar, and condiments ensured that the basic nutritional requirements of the residents were supported. Team SSM Chennai celebrated Sri M's birth anniversary, 6th November 2022, with annadaanam seva in different districts.   The celebration began with the offering of a nutritious breakfast of pongal, vadas, sambar, and chutney to the 55 senior citizens at SEED Old Age Home , Avinashi and the residents of Annaiyar Home for the Aged , Perumanallur at Tirupur .   Some team members who have been regularly providing dry rations and other essential items to the farmers in Thirupanagadu, Kancheepuram District offered a filling lunch of rice, sambar, rasam, poriyal, pachadi , sweet pongal , and fruits to the villagers and their families.     At Namakkal , the team members offered a simple lunch including vadas, appalam, and payasam  to the 20 residents of Nambikkai Illam , a care centre for homeless women.      On 7th November 2022, annadaanam seva was offered at the historical Pudukkotai Palace, Trichy by a team member who belongs to the erstwhile ro...

Team SSM Chennai commemorated Sri M's birthday by offering annadaanam seva at different locations across Chennai.  The team members visited Udhavum Ullangal , a home for young girls and women who have been abandoned by their families. Over the past one year the team members have supported this safe home with the provision of dry rations every two months.  On 6th November 2022, they offered a filling breakfast of dosas, lemon rice, vadas, sambar, chutney, and laddus to the 65 residents.     Another group of team members offered a festive meal of  rice, poriyal , rasam, sambar, vadas, and payasam to the sprightly, specially-abled children at the Love Care Center, Pallikaranai .  Some team members also visited The Banyan , an NGO that provides sanctuary to homeless women suffering from mental illness and strives to support their healing and reintegration with their families.   On the occasion of Sri M's birthday Team SSM Coimbatore visited The Government School for the Blind at Poochiyur village on the Thondamuthur Road, Coimbatore which provides  accommodation, and education to visually challenged children between the ages of 4 and 12 living in Poochiyur and the surrounding villages.     A delicious treat of breakfast and sweets followed by the distribution of school uniforms for these children made this celebration eventful, memorable, and overwhelming for the bravehearts of this little school.     The team members expressed immense gratitude for the insights that these special children provided them with their spontaneity and unbridled enthusiasm as they conveyed their sweet wishes to Sri M.

Team SSM Coimbatore celebrated the auspicious festival of Deepavali with the lively group of senior citizens at the Eera Nenjam Old Age Home on 22nd October 2022.     The team members offered boxes of assorted burfis , boondi laddus , and halwa and savory mixture to the 86 residents of this safe home, run by the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation.     Loving conversations and happy laughter filled the courtyard as the residents enjoyed the soft sweets, specially prepared to suit their health requirements. The Eera Nenjam Old Age Home at R S Puram, Coimbatore shelters 80 senior citizens and provides them with food, accommodation, and medical care. Team SSM Coimbatore has been associated with this safe haven through the pandemic and continues to provide support through the provision of dry rations, cooked meals, and medicines.     On 7th October 2022, the team members visited the home and handed over the monthly dry rations which comprised 10 kgs each of lentils, Bengal gram, green gram, poha or beaten rice, jaggery; and 10 litres of cooking oil.     To support the initiatives of Team SSM Coimbatore, please write to us at connect@satsang-foundation.org .  

Team SSM Coimbatore celebrated the 75th Independence Day on 15 August 2022 with its dear friends at the Eera Nenjam Old Age Home in RS Puram.     The 80 inmates of this shelter home for senior citizens received a box of wheat laddus as they participated in this momentous celebration of nationhood.     The team members handed over common medicines such as multivitamin and calcium supplements, anti-acidity tablets, analgesics, and prescription medicines for those suffering from diabetes and hypertension. They also provided health drinks to support the nutritional needs of the inmates.     Each visit to this precious haven for the aged is characterized by loving exchanges between the team members and the inmates who look forward to spending their time with their younger friends.   To participate in such initiatives for senior citizens, contact us at connect@satsang-foundation.org .

Eera Nenjam Old Age Home located at RS Puram, Coimbatore provides shelter to senior citizens who have been abandoned by their families. Team SSM Coimbatore has been associated with this home since the past two years and regularly provides dry rations, medicines, and cooked meals.     The team members visited the home on 7th May 2022  and offered annadaanam seva to the 85 inmates who are presently housed there.     They served a traditional lunch consisting of rice, sambar , puli kuzhambu , kootu , vegetable curry, rasam , buttermilk, papads , and payasam .      The inmates were filled with happiness as they blessed the team members for sharing a fulfilling meal and spending precious moments with them. Udhavum Ullangal Helping Hearts, an NGO, was established in 2001 to support abandoned children and women who are rescued from the streets, parks, and railway and bus stations.    The managers of this NGO had requested Team SSM Chennai to provide dry rations and essential items to the 45 girls aged between 6 and 16 years and the 15 elderly women who are presently living at the home in Maralmarai Nagar, Chennai.     The team members visited the home on the 28th of March, 2022 and distributed dry rations such as rice, sugar, lentils, peanuts, semolina, salt, dried red chillies, dry fruits, coffee, and tea.      The children were delighted to receive a tiny goody bag filled with biscuits, a T-shirt, and a wire tray to store their personal belongings.
