Team SSM Pune initiates weekly yoga sessions at Ordnance Factory
In a thoughtful and much-needed initiative, Team Satsang Seva Mission at Pune launched yoga sessions for employees at the Ordnance Factory at Dehu Road, Pune on 7th January 2024.
Facilitators trained at the Bharat Yoga Vidya Kendra (BYVK) of The Satsang Foundation, led the first batch of 16 participants in an introductory session of asanas, pranayama, and meditation following an engaging interaction focussed on the role of yoga in the prevention and management of disease.
They also sought to understand the needs of the participants and spoke briefly about nutrition and health at the factory that is an integrated base for indigenous production of defence hardware and equipment for the armed forces.
During the second weekly session on 14th January, the asana practice was accompanied by a discussion of the different concepts of yogic anatomy. The participants were enthused with the addition of 6 young children to their group.
Specific asanas in the standing, sitting, and prone positions such as Supta Virasana, Balasana, and Ardha Matsyendrasana were taught during the third weekly session on 21st January to help ease the discomfort of those suffering from ailments such as cervical spondylosis, sciatica, and diabetes. Lifestyle and dietary changes were recommended to help provide a holistic solution for these ailments.
