Specially-abled children of ANIKET Sevabhavi Sanstha set to move into new home
ANIKET Sevabhavi Sanstha, founded by Ms. Kalpana Varpe, offers food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and vocational training to specially-abled children.
Team SSM Pune has been associated with this home since the past 4 years, providing monthly dry rations, meals, clothes, stationery, educational material, and financial support for utilities such as electricity. The team members have also organized medical checkups, special workshops on yoga and art, and festive events. Precious bonds of love and friendship have since blossomed among the children and the team members.
The team members were extremely happy to know that after having lived in a small, tin-roofed shelter, the 60 residents and their 10 caregivers have now found a safe haven in a spacious building situated at Lavasa Link Road in Urawade, Pune.
During the inauguration event held on 18th June 2023, the team members were given a tour of the new space which has separate sections for boys and girls with 32 and 24 beds respectively in each section. The classrooms, workshop, staff room, dining area, kitchen, prayer room, and large play area have been designed to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents with the installation of anti-skid flooring and CCTV cameras.
The joyous smiles of the children brought much cheer to the guests as they greeted them to their new abode.
