Supporting the Holistic Welfare of Young Citizens across Maharashtra
Team Satsang Seva Mission (SSM), Mumbai Kendra has endeavored to support our young citizens in Maharashtra by providing learning that goes beyond their academic curricula in a safe learning environment.
The youngsters at the Angel's Nest Orphanage, Marol participated in their first-ever yoga workshop on 28th April 2023. The facilitator, an experienced yoga instructor from the Bharat Yoga Vidya Kendra (BYVK), introduced the beauty and benefits of yoga through a fun-filled session comprising warm-up exercises, and standing and sitting asanas. Overcoming their initial inhibitions, the twelve sprightly youngsters participated wholeheartedly and simply loved the session!
Meanwhile, another group of SSM members was informed that a municipal school in Goregaon, Mumbai required pest control on their premises urgently. Immediate crowd-funding helped the members implement pest control measures on the entire school on 29th April 2023, thus, ensuring a safe learning environment for the students.
Team SSM Mumbai has also launched the 'Project Bhaskar' initiative which involves the installation of an audio-visual kit with solar batteries in schools to help students better understand their SSC board syllabus. Five schools situated in Rajapur, Vaibhavwadi, Mumbai, and Pali have expressed interest in this initiative even as work has already commenced at the Kelvali School, Ratnagiri with the restoration and repair of the school's dilapidated roof on 29th April 2023. A set of Sri M's books were also donated to the school library.
A 20-minute video clip of Sri M's epic Walk of Hope was screened at the Saraswati Vidya Mandir at Naniwade, District Sindhudurg on 1st May 2023 by yet another group of team members. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for four passionate teachers and 40 enthusiastic students to come together and experience the incredible journey of Sri M as he walked over 7500 kilometers from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to spread the message of peace, harmony, and unity.
The students and the faculty members were able to witness the beauty and diversity of India while being inspired by the story of Sri M's remarkable quest for peace. The interactive session that followed the screening moved everyone as they discussed themes of compassion, unity, and the importance of community.
