Team SSM Tamil Nadu Spreads Cheer and Sunshine on Founder's Day

The 6th of November marks the birthday of Sri M and is celebrated as Founder’s Day at The Satsang Foundation.

Since Sri M holds the feeding of the poor as a divine service that merits immediate attention, the members of the Satsang Seva Mission in Tamil Nadu decided to set the wheels of the food distribution wagon in motion and ensured that delicious food reached orphanages and homes for the aged and the destitute all across the state.

Destination Tirupur: The Seed Old Age Home at Avinashi has 55 inmates. Some of the SSM team members at Tirupur lovingly served them a festive meal while others reached out to about 37 seniors at Annaiyar Old Age Home at Perumanallur.

They then spent the entire day at Banyan Home, a sanctuary for mentally ill women and children and shared lunch and dinner with the 110 inmates who are sheltered here presently.

Team SSM at Tuticorin served up a delectable spread of idlis, vadas, and sambar for breakfast at Alex Kailasam Old Age Home. When the manager of the home informed the 25 inmates that it was Sri M’s birthday, they prayed for everyone.

Another special breakfast was made available for the 13 mentally challenged children and adults at the Love Care Centre of the Parthasarathy Memorial Trust at Pallikaranai, Chennai.  Team SSM Chennai was overwhelmed to see these precious inmates as they helped each other to eat and enjoyed their festive breakfast with much joy.

The Uthavum Ullangal home for destitute girl children at Kattangulathur in Chengalpet District, Chennai was another destination where 52 inmates received meals throughout the day. They also received soap, shampoo, and hair oil for their personal use.

Besant Nagar in Chennai saw a flurry of activity with the distribution of 72 food packets that comprised brinjal rice and potato curry and flavored  milk packets to construction workers, municipal corporation workers, the homeless, kuravars, security guards, and the aged along the stretch of Kalakshetra Road, Beach Road, Besant Nagar, and near Besant Nagar beach.

The General Hospital at Trichy was the ideal venue for the distribution of a freshly-prepared meal of rice, sambar, poriyal, and jangiri to 100 people.

A SSM volunteer distributed 200 packets of food at Kolathur.

At Perambur and Ayynavaram, delicious arutkanji porridge was served to 750 people.

Another SSM team member distributed 81 packets of nutritious, flavored milk to the needy as she traversed the streets.

Besides these food distribution drives, Team SSM Chennai provided dry rations to a shelter for destitute girl children and a grinder to another home for mentally challenged children.
