Homes for Widows and Destitute Women Celebrate Diwali, Sri M’s Birthday With SSM Mathura in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh

When Sri M's Walk of Hope for Peace and Harmony entered Vrindavan in February 2016,  the widows and destitute women of the Mahila Ashray Sadan welcomed him with garlands and a musical performance, forgetting all the hardships they faced. When the SSM team reached there for Deepavali celebrations this week, the Home was transformed through their joint efforts as the women are now gainfully employed in making incense sticks and gulal for playing Holi with the flowers that are offered at the Banke Bihari Temple.

Thanks to the women, the hall was sparkling clean and prepared for prayer with idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh decorated with flowers. The Team sat with the women for prayers and for singing Sri M's favourite bhajans - Man Ek Baar Hari Bol, Jaya Radha Madhava, and Nao Karo Meri Paar from his album Voyage.  The women enjoyed a joyous photo shoot and sent birthday wishes in advance to Sri M, thanking him for the celebrations that ended with the team distributing sweets to the 170 residents.

The team then proceeded to Krishna Kutir, another home for destitute women,  where a special lunch was prepared for the 135 residents along with the sweets distributed by the team.  For team SSM the day ended with a prayer in their hearts that the women should find peace and happiness despite their sorrows and privations
